Lyle Williamson
Background, public record, forum positions and unanswered questions for Lyle Williamson, a 2026 Armstrong councillor candidate.
Office: Councillor
Lyle Williamson is making another run at council after an unsuccessful 2022 campaign.
His background includes more than two decades with the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department and community volunteer work.
At the forum, Williamson was unusually open about being new to municipal government.
He said he expects a steep learning curve and has already begun researching the role.
On taxes, he avoided sweeping promises and instead talked about balanced budgets, choosing priorities and retaining enough flexibility to deal with emergencies.
That answer is less dramatic than “no new taxes,” but municipal government rarely gives councillors only easy choices.
Previous public office: None identified.
Community record: Fire service, Kin Club and other local volunteer work.
From the forum: Acknowledged the learning curve and emphasized prioritization rather than absolute fiscal promises.
Another way to look at it: Knowing what you do not yet know can be useful. Council still requires candidates to get up to speed quickly.
What I’d like to know: Which part of the City’s budget or infrastructure plan has Williamson studied most closely, and what did he conclude?
